Ingredients

2 Tablespoons olive oil

1 Tablespoon ajwain or cumin seeds

1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder

2 Tablespoons shredded coconut

1 teaspoon ginger, freshly grated

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 green chili, chopped

2 Tablespoons cashews
-
2 Tablespoons raisins
-
1 Tablespoon sesame seeds

1 Tablespoon peanuts, ground

2 ½ cups fresh or frozen lilva beans/pigeon peas

1 teaspoon cumin powder
-
1 teaspoon garam masala
-
½ cup water
-
Salt to taste

2 Tablespoons cilantro, chopped

½ lemon, squeezed
Directions
In a saucepan add the oil. Add the ajwain/cumin seeds, pinch of turmeric and shredded coconut and stir. Add ginger, garlic, green chili, cashews, raisins, sesame seeds, ground peanuts, cumin powder and garam masala and stir.
Add the beans and water and stir well. Add salt to taste. Cover pan and cook for 30 minutes.
When finished cooking, sprinkle with chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice.
