There is a secret ingredient in this recipe. This recipe started when a friend made me French Toast when we were kids. Now that I know the secret to the best French toast, Im sharing it. My daughters love this crisp exterior of this recipe and have a hard time ordering French Toast at a restaurant, because it is never the same.

Ingredients
-
4-6 slices of thick French Toast bread

-
2 T. Unsalted butter, melted (plus more for frying)
-
¾ cup milk
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

-
¼ teaspoon salt
Directions
Heat a griddle or 12 inch skillet over medium heat.
In a shallow pan, add beaten egg, butter, milk, vanilla and sugar. Whisk until combined. Slowly add the flour and salt and stir until combined. The batter does not need to be smooth.
Swirl 1 T. Butter in hot pan. Soak bread slices one at a time in the batter and add to hot pan. Cook until browned, then flip and brown the other side. The toast will have a nice crispy texture. Continue adding butter to skillet for each new batch.
