You won’t find this recipe anywhere on the internet. This is a special raisin bread that I grew up with and comes from my mom’s stash of recipes from PA. This sweet bread is great sliced and toasted with butter. The butter crumb topping is an extra touch of goodness and when it’s toasted and warm, you won’t have a better slice of toasted bread.

Directions
Dough
In a large bowl, add eggs and 3 cups of flour and mix.
Heat 2 sticks of butter, 2 cups sugar, raisins and 4 cups of milk. Heat until butter melts. Cool slightly and pour into egg, flour mixture. Mix until combined.
Yeast mixture
Add milk, yeast and sugar to a bowl and stir to combine. Set aside until mixture is cooled slightly.
Pour yeast mixture into batter and fully combine.
Once you add the yeast, you will continue to work in 14 cups of flour. You will have a thick, sticky batter once everything is incorporated.
Butter crumbs
Add butter, flour and sugar to a bowl and mix with a fork or your fingers until you have a crumbly mixture. Do not overmix.
Finishing touches
Grease 6-8 loaf pans and separate the dough evenly into each pan, filling half way. Sprinkle the butter crumbs evenly on top of each loaf.
Set aside and cover with a towel until the loaves rise to the top of the pan.
Bake @350 degrees for 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of your loaf pan. Bread is ready when the tops have browned slightly
